Joseph Wortman was Benjamin Wortman's son
My family was blessed to have Joseph Wortman in it he was a wonderful man who loved he's family and he's community . He passed a lot of since of civic pride and responsiblity down thru the generations .
Joseph Wortman was my fourth back grandfather he was a barrell maker by trade . When Ohio was short on cash he made 6 trips up and down the Mississppi river to take flour to be sold in New Orleans .
How do I know this my family kept records he wrote a letter to he's wife back in 1831 and it has survived in my family talking about a boat wreck on the Mississippi River at Randolph Tennessee .
My dads first name was Randolph that is probaly how he got he's name
Joseph Wortman risked he's life for he's community
Joseph Wortman had to leavc he's family to go down the Mississippi river to take not just he's flour but he's neighbors flour as will to get money for the community he lived in times were tough it took 6 weeks to walk back with the money after the flour was sold I am sure their were robbers and Indians along the way to look out for.
Joseph Wortman did this six times during he's life time what would have happened to he's wife and children if he would have died .

Their children were Jane Wortman ,Sarah Wortman, Jackson Wortman I know and love some of this mans desendants very good people love them a lot ,Julie Ann Wortman , Willie Wortman , Eleanor Wortman , John E. Wortman ,Barnet J. Wortman , Harrison Wortman my next Grandfather married Mary Ann Cain July 16, 1834
