I am currently recaning a very old antique chair that I have had for 37 years we need to keep our antiques to many of them get thrown out because they are to expensive to fix .

If you need kane for a chair contact perkins canning on line they are the only ones I know that do that. They also sell books and kits which you can buy and do to learn how to do this old process but it takes hours and hours to do but it lasts for years and years if you do it right .

I made a paper pattern first I used this to cut out the fabric with than I sewed the main body first leaving the slip covers till last .It is a good idea to put zippers in the slip covers then you can wash them .

You can have a set for winter and a different color set for summer .

It took alot of time to remove then I sanded and used remover to get the coats off even though it is small it took a lot of work .

This takes hours and hours to do . You may want to hide the piece you are working on the the garage while you are working on it .

First you take off the old uppolstery with a knife be careful not to tear it for this is your pattern for redoing the piece .

Set out your pattern with the new fabric you brought you want this fabric to be stain resistant and thivk enough to last a while because upolstery is a lot of work.

Start at the bottem redoing the piece and work your way up I like to use a staple gun.

Pick a fabric which goes with your decore . Sometimes you will want to use solids sometimes prints .
